  • Maintain tickler systems for covenants and exceptions.
  • Manage appraisal, environmental and third-party vendor lists.
  • Conduct vendor reviews and ongoing monitoring.
  • Order and review flood determinations for deals.
  • Verify flood insurance requirements and coverage.
  • Maintain risk rating records and QC documentation.
  • Support administration of the attorney program.
  • Assist with credit administration projects and reporting.

Washington Trust is seeking a Credit Risk Specialist to join its Credit Risk Administration team. This position is responsible for supporting the Bank's commercial lending operations through loan documentation quality control, exception and tickler management, flood compliance review, vendor oversight, appraisal administration, and other credit administration functions.


The Credit Risk Specialist plays a key role in ensuring that commercial loan files are accurate, complete, compliant with Bank policies, and properly documented throughout the lending process. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, along with a high level of attention to detail.


Responsibilities


  • Review commercial loan documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Bank requirements.

  • Validate collateral, insurance, appraisal, title, and other due diligence documentation.

  • Identify documentation exceptions and assist in resolving outstanding issues.

  • Ensure loan files are complete and properly documented before and after closing.

  • Maintain loan documentation, covenant, and exception tickler systems.

  • Manage approved appraisal, environmental, and other third-party vendor lists.

  • Conduct vendor reviews and ongoing monitoring activities.

  • Order and review flood determinations for commercial loan transactions.

  • Verify flood insurance requirements and coverage adequacy.

  • Maintain risk rating records and quality control documentation.

  • Support administration of the Bank's approved attorney program.

  • Assist with additional credit administration projects and reporting as assigned.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Legal Studies, or a related field preferred.

  • Relevant banking, legal, or business experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Previous experience in commercial lending, loan operations, credit administration, legal documentation, or a related area is preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with loan officers, attorneys, consultants, appraisers, and other business partners.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Experience with loan systems, CRM platforms, or other banking software is a plus.


A good-faith, reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $50,000 - $65,000 per year. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, skills, training, certifications, and education. This base salary reflects one component of our competitive compensation package. This position may be eligible for an annual bonus and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
