Job summary

Washington Trust Bank is seeking a Commercial Banking support professional in Seattle to assist Credit Analysts and Relationship Managers with loan documentation, client relationships, and portfolio administration.

You will gather financial statements, scrub files for audits, and prepare documentation packages to support lending activities. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of documentation and processing requirements within Trust administration, corporate lending, and related areas.
  • Accurate keyboarding skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Ability to coordinate with Relationship Managers and other teams to service client portfolios.

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility for loan documentation, ordering documents, collecting financial statements, and audit review as part of account setup and maintenance.
  • Prepare requests for new and renewal note packages and assist with financial analysis as directed.
  • Maintain officer activity files to ensure timely receipt of required information for portfolios.
  • Coordinate with RMs to manage ongoing service and retention activities and serve as the main contact where possible.
  • Provide timely, accurate information to support client relationships and department goals.

Job description

In a team environment, supports the job activities of Credit Analysts and partners with Relationship Managers (RMs) in the Commercial Banking Group, assisting with the administration of client relationships, including processing and reviewing commercial loan document requests. Provides administrative and/or analytical support and assists with administrative functions to allow team members additional time for credit analysis duties. Provides professional service to internal clients by acting as a liaison among Credit Analysts, Relationship Managers, and other departments.

Essential Functions
  • This role will be primarily responsible for loan documentation, ordering loan documents, collecting financial statements, scrubbing files for audit information, and correcting findings as part of account set-up and maintenance.
  • As applicable, prepare requests for new and renewal note and documentation packages as directed by officers, following through to closing until file is complete. May assist with or perform financial analysis as directed.
  • Maintain activity/tracking files for each officer to ensure proper receipt of information required to maintain portfolios in a current status. (Items may include financial statements, borrowing base reports, deeds, etc.)
  • Partner with RMs to successfully manage and oversee all ongoing service and retention activities, acting as the primary contact for these relationships where possible.
  • Solve problems in a timely and accurate manner, handling urgent and confidential matters in a mature, professional manner to ensure continued goodwill.
  • Provide RMs with prompt, timely, and accurate information as needed to support client relationships and the overall goals of the department and bank.
  • Assist with outside calls by preparing prospect letters, ordering pertinent background financial information, scheduling meetings, etc.
  • Evaluate and route incoming mail. Read correspondence/memos directed to officers, handling those items of a routine nature independently.
  • Supports the client relationship strategy by developing effective tactics in managing the relationship portfolio; coordinates daily workflow to ensure that current portfolios are in complete conformity with terms.
  • Act as liaison between assigned business unit and other product areas of the bank.
  • Work with accounting and other administrative computer systems for research, report generation, and check generation.
  • May prepare inventory and/or disposition schedules of trust and estate property; reviews daily transaction sheets and makes adjustments when necessary.
  • May be responsible for quarterly construction loan reports, loan fee reports, commercial loan/residential real estate loan documents, appraisal ordering, timely collection of fees, and tracking past due property taxes. Initial contact with clients required. May also close new or renewed loans, occasionally at the client’s place of business.
  • Prepare applicable portions of Credit Authorizations on current clients for lending relationships. Provide transcription of comments, letters, memos, waivers and Credit Authorizations.
  • Perform compliance and risk management duties as required or assigned.
  • Regular, reliable attendance is required.
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of business unit's functional areas, such as documentation and processing requirements within Trust administration, corporate lending, commercial/residential real estate lending, or private banking. Specific knowledge of various documentation (Deeds of Trust, Mortgages, Notes, Guarantees, etc) may also be required.
  • Accurate keyboarding skills and extensive knowledge of business software programs, including word processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheet (MS Excel) and database (Access) applications.
  • Strong knowledge of M & I for assisting clients' inquiries for balance, payment, and miscellaneous account information.
  • Ability to prioritize work projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of bank products and services.
Compensation

Commercial Client Service Associate I: $28.93 to $43.44 per hour

Commercial Client Service Associate II: $31.51 to $47.26 per hour

Commercial Client Service Associate III: $37.28 to $55.91 per hour

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position located in Seattle, Washington. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. This position is also eligible to participate in an applicable annual bonus.
