Job summary

Valley Bank is seeking an experienced credit professional to oversee a loan portfolio, underwriting and structuring new and existing transactions, and guiding junior team members. You will lead client meetings, manage risk, and ensure compliance with bank policies and loan terms.

Responsibilities include due diligence, preparing credit presentations, closing oversight, and ongoing monitoring with regular reporting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the ongoing financial health of an assigned loan portfolio and maintain ongoing dialogue with clients with the business team for reporting and updates.
• Underwrites and structures new transactions as well as renewals, extensions, increases, and material modifications for existing clients.
• Lead external client meetings as well as internal deal team discussions and approval discussions with senior management; identify and mitigate risks and advise on Credit Policy and loan structures.
• Review credit packages completed by junior team members and provide guidance and mentorship.
• Perform due diligence and analysis, produce the credit presentation per guidelines, ensure timely underwriting, present credit requests to credit authority, and oversee legal documents and closing.
• Approve transactions under lending authority when applicable.
• Maintain oversight via internal reporting and dashboards of portfolio monitoring requirements and client deliverables, ensuring compliance with loan terms.
• Maintain direct contact with clients for account monitoring and site visits as needed.
• Validate and analyze reports (financial statements, collateral, appraisals, etc.) to verify compliance; escalate issues and develop action plans.
• Ensure credits are accurately risk-rated and properly monitored and reported.
• Prepare quarterly reports and analyses including Criticized Loan Monitoring Reports and other portfolio management reports.
• Participate in special projects related to portfolio management.
