Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Credit & Risk Manager in Tysons, VA. The role focuses on enterprise-wide credit, risk management, and payment protection across commercial, federal government, and construction projects. It emphasizes proactive risk assessment and protection of company assets.

The responsibilities include evaluating credit, analyzing financial data, administrating liens and bond rights, and coordinating with legal and risk teams to mitigate risk across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in commercial credit, construction finance, risk management, or related disciplines.
• Strong understanding of mechanic's liens, bond claims, financial statement analysis, and project risk evaluation.
• Experience with federal contracting and government projects preferred.
• Experience with surety/bonding programs and/or Subcontract Default Insurance (SDI) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Credit analysis and qualification of customers and project opportunities.
• Analyze financial statements, bank references, trade references, and credit reports.
• Establish credit limits, payment terms, and risk ratings.
• Maintain customer risk classification framework and monitoring process.
• Identify emerging credit risks and mitigation strategies.
• Evaluate owner solvency, project funding, and payment security.
• Assess bonds, financing arrangements, and contractual protections.
• Evaluate subcontractor risk and SDI/bonding programs.
• Administer lien rights, notices, filings, and documentation.
• Coordinate with counsel on enforcement actions when necessary.
• Utilize Levelset to track notice deadlines, filing requirements, and lien/bond claim status.
