Job summary

Copperas Cove High School in Copperas Cove ISD is seeking a Credit Recovery Aide to support teachers and students during instructional time. This role involves assisting in reading, writing, and mathematics with small-group instruction and managing instructional materials.

The aide will help with testing, record-keeping, substitute support, and student supervision across the school day. Strong communication and classroom management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Possess 48 hours of college credit or an associate's degree or ESSA paraprofessional qualification.
• Able to assist in reading, writing, and mathematics instruction.
• Experience working with children or in a school setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students under the direction of the teacher, including one-on-one or small-group work.
• Assist with preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and with record-keeping requirements.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom and assist with inventory and equipment care.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers and non-instructional staff.
• Supervise students during lunch, bus, and playground activities and communicate needs to teachers.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Assist the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

Must have one of the following:

• 48 hours of college credit, or
• Associate's Degree or higher, or
• or have met formal academic assessment as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) such as the Paraprofessional Academy offered by a Regional Service Center

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to communicate effectively

Experience:

Some experience working with children

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Instructional Support

• Provide instruction to students under the direction of teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.

Student Management

• Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Make teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
