Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Credit Balance Refund Representative to resolve insurance and patient credit balances, issuing refunds and requesting refunds to ensure patient satisfaction and regulatory compliance.

You will conduct thorough account research to determine whether refunds, transfers, or adjustments are needed, applying billing knowledge and follow-up practices with high attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Two years of revenue cycle or related work experience is required.
• Alternative: post-high school education in medical billing may substitute.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze insurance and patient credit balance accounts to resolve balances.
• Review EOBs/ERAs, payments, adjustments, insurance contracts, and account comments; contact insurers for information as needed.
• Refund overpayments and transfer payments to the correct accounts.
• Verify that charges are billed to the insurance plan.
• Validate that insurance paid correctly and identify patient responsibility.
• Transfer payments per established procedures.
