Qualifications

Summary:

The RedBuilt Credit Department assesses customer and project risk, protects statutory lien and bond rights, and manages the collection of outstanding accounts receivable. Effective credit and collection practices convert sales into cash, improve working capital, support responsible growth, and minimize bad-debt exposure.

The Credit and Collections Manager leads the day-to-day credit and accounts receivable function. This role develops and administers credit and collection policies, evaluates commercial credit risk, establishes customer credit limits and payment terms, oversees collection activity, and implements processes and controls that sustain the company's credit risk and cash flow profile. The manager supervises and develops a credit team of 3 associates and provides guidance and resolution for escalated disputes and complex issues. The manager collaborates with Sales, Project Management, Operations, Finance, customers, other 3rd parties such as lenders, credit insurers, and legal partners to ensure credit risk is balanced with sustained growth and that projects are successfully managed through collection. The successful candidate will combine sound judgment, clear communication, strong organization, and a continuous-improvement mindset while remaining committed to the RedBuilt "Why."

Essential Functions:

• Lead the day-to-day performance of the credit and collections team; assign work, ensure appropriate coverage for new and active projects, provide coaching, and ensure escalations are managed. Identify and implement process improvements.
• Develop, administer, and consistently apply credit and collection policies and procedures, for secured and unsecured business channels.
• Evaluate customer and project credit risk; establish and maintain customer credit limits and payment terms in NetSuite.
• Set clear credit and payment expectations with customers.
• Partner with senior leadership, sales, operations, project managers, and credit analysts to ensure polices and responsibilities are clear. Collaborate to resolve customer, project, billing, payment, and risk issues.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging, delinquent accounts, collection activity, and disputed balances; negotiate payment arrangements and determine appropriate escalation or collection action.
• Protect lien and bond rights by overseeing preliminary notices, waivers, deadline tracking, and related construction credit documentation.
• Review and approve accounts receivable adjustments, check requests, and sales tax exemption certificates in accordance with internal controls.
• Prepare and monitor recurring reports, including preliminary lien notice activity, past-due collection calls, aging trends, and other key credit and collection metrics.
• Oversee daily cash coding, paper-check deposits, positive pay, credit card processing, and authorized banking activities; provide backup support as assigned.
• Complete month-end accounts receivable closing activities, reconciliations, and management reporting.
• Prepare and monitor recurring reports, including preliminary lien notice activity, past-due collection calls, aging trends, and other key credit and collection metrics.
• Develop and deliver onboarding and ongoing training for credit team members and relevant credit training for Sales and Project Management personnel.
• Provide hand-on support during vacancies, planned absences, peak business periods, and other operational needs.
• Maintain credit and collection forms, procedures, and documentation
• Perform additional duties and projects assigned.

Job Requirements, Skills, and Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of commercial credit, accounts receivable, credit approval, invoicing, cash application, payment processing, collections, and account reconciliation.
• Strong working knowledge of construction credit, including preliminary notices, lien and bond rights, lien waivers, draw schedules, progress payments, and related documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate customer and project risk, establish credit limits and payment terms, and balance risk mitigation with profitable growth.
• Strong business and financial acumen, including an understanding of how credit decisions affect working capital, sales, customer relationships, and bad-debt exposure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to negotiate, resolve disputes, communicate difficult decisions, and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage, coach, train, and hold team members accountable for accurate and timely work.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ERP workflows, related payment and banking applications.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, construction management, or a related field is strongly preferred. Additional directly related experience may be considered.
• At least 5 years of progressively responsible commercial credit, collections, accounts receivable, and/or construction management experience.
• A minimum of 1-3 years of experience directly supervising, managing, and mentoring direct reports is required.
• Construction industry experience is highly preferred, particularly experience with construction financing, lien and bond rights, draw schedules, progress payments, and project-based credit risk.
