Description

SUMMARY:

Dedham Savings is seeking a Credit Analyst I to analyze new and existing commercial & industrial and commercial real estate credit relationships for approval and to ascertain risk. Credit Analysts are responsible for working with loan officers to identify and understand existing and potential risks and trends, providing a thorough assessment of a borrower’s capacity to withstand those risks through a written, in-depth discussion of the business, management, collateral, and industry factors. The analysis will be in conformance with established Bank policies, strategies, and procedures. This role will perform any functions necessary, within the scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of customer service and responsiveness to the financial needs of individuals, families, businesses, and organizations served by the Bank. This is an in-office role.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Conduct credit analysis to ensure all Bank loans are acceptable credit risks, in conformance with applicable laws and regulations, and Bank policies.
  2. Analyze existing and potential loans, recommend loan structures to enhance credit quality, and prepare loan approval documents including risk discussion, business analysis, collateral, guarantor support, cash flow, market analysis, and loan covenants.
  3. Analyze customer financial statements and tax returns, input data into third-party software.
  4. Identify policy exceptions and note mitigating factors.
  5. Attend joint calls with lending officers when appropriate.
  6. Identify cross-sell opportunities for Bank products and services.
  7. Perform periodic loan reviews to ensure ongoing borrower financial health.
  8. Follow up on exceptions or missing documentation noted during analysis.
  9. Analyze financial statements, prioritizing large overdue accounts and past due reviews.
  10. Conduct credit analysis on third-party vendors at management’s request.
  11. Perform written evaluations of collateral per regulatory requirements.
  12. Prepare reports such as Covenant Tracking, Policy Exceptions, and others.
  13. Attend and present loans to the Executive Committee as needed.
  14. Embrace and enhance Dedham Savings culture.
  15. Adhere to privacy and data security policies, safeguarding sensitive information.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; or at least one year of related experience or training; or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of commercial and industrial lending practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial statements.
  • Excellent analytical skills, sound judgment, decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to build relationships, adapt to change, multitask, be reliable and self-motivated.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Language Skills

Ability to interpret business materials, write reports, and present information effectively.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to perform calculations related to discounts, interest, percentages, etc.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to analyze data, interpret instructions, and draw valid conclusions.

Physical Demands

Regular sitting, use of hands, reaching, talking, occasional standing and walking, lifting up to 10 pounds, specific vision abilities.
