SALARY:

$4,634 - $7,078/per month Non-PERS Rate

$4,912 - $7,501/per month PERS Rate

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

We are recruiting for individuals to join our Business Services team.

In this role, you will perform key accounting and financial functions focused on accounts payable, compliance, and internal controls. You will prepare and process invoices within SFMA and Cobblestone, ensuring fiscal accuracy, proper authorization, and timely payments in alignment with state statutes and internal performance goals. You will audit county special election reimbursements, manage R*STARS vouchers, reconcile SPOTS payments and expenditures, and validate system-entered refunds.

In addition to transactional work, you will collaborate with the accounting team to develop and implement internal control policies and procedures that align with GAAP, state and federal laws, and administrative regulations. You will assist management in interpreting statutes and accounting standards and maintain agency signature authority forms related to expenditures and procurement, routing them for approval as needed.

Your application must demonstrate education and/or experience in the following:

  • Possession of a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Government Financial Manager certificate;

OR

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting;

OR

  • Successful completion of the State of Oregon Accounting Career Mobility Program or equivalent accounting certificate program from an accredited college or university;

OR

  • 32 quarter (21 semester) credit hours in Accounting from an accredited institution AND

  • two years of technical, para- professional accounting experience to include: a) classifying, analyzing, and reconciling financial data and records; b) designing, recommending, and installing modifications of accounting methods, procedures, forms, and records; c) preparing financial statements and reports; d) analyzing and interpreting laws, regulations, codes, and ordinances to ensure the legality of financial transactions; and e) analyzing, interpreting, and making recommendations related to accounting transactions, accounts and account relationships resulting in accounting entries.

As the most competitive candidate, your application will demonstrate the following requested skills and experience:

  • Familiarity with accounting principles and agency accounting systems.

  • Computer experience and knowledge of Excel, Word, and OBIEE.

  • Experience with the state budget process and complex accounting systems like SFMA/R*Stars.

  • Skill applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to a computer-based financial application.
