Job summary

The City of York seeks a Credible Messenger to establish trusting relationships with individuals at high risk of gun- and group-related violence and to guide them toward safer choices and non-retaliatory actions.

You will provide crucial assessments to social services, document all interactions, develop and implement action plans to resolve conflicts, and track progress to ensure ongoing safety in hotspot communities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; life experience valued.
• Mediation certificate preferred but not required.
• Ability to communicate clearly and document interactions accurately.

Responsibilities

• Establish trusting relationships with high-risk individuals and groups.
• Provide assessments to social services providers to guide referrals.
• Develop and implement action plans to resolve conflicts.
• Track and evaluate progress of participants and report findings.
