Job summary

Animal Medical Services in Mount Airy, NC is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians in surgery, anesthesia, laboratory work and client education. This full-time, on-site position offers a competitive hourly wage and a comprehensive benefits package.

You will assist with exams, collect samples, operate radiography equipment, and help maintain clean, organized clinics while upholding the highest standards of patient care and client communication.

Qualifications

• State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in state of desired employment.
• Experience with Ezyvet PIMS preferred.
• Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; lift over 25 pounds with assistance.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE.
• Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS Office.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in medicine and surgery as needed.
• Assist outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights; provide client education.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during surgery.
• Obtain blood, stool, and other samples; perform in-hospital laboratory testing.
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following proper safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments.
• Clean and straighten exam rooms, treatment and lab areas; restock supplies.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism in all interactions with clients and patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and practice team members including client discussions, plans, concerns.
• Any other duties as assigned.
