Job summary

State Road Animal Hospital seeks a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our experienced team. You will assist veterinarians in exams, anesthesia, dentistry, and laboratory testing while educating clients and supporting routine surgeries.

Responsibilities include preparing patients for surgery, monitoring vital signs, collecting samples, and maintaining equipment and records. A state license is required; physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in state of employment.
• Ability to lift patients and equipment up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifting.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE.
• Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS Office applications.
• Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery and other tasks as needed.
• Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights, and provide client education.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during surgery.
• Obtain blood, stool, and other samples; perform in-hospital laboratory testing and prepare specimens.
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments at the veterinarian's direction.
• Clean and straighten exam rooms, treatment and lab areas; restock supplies; assist other team members.
