The Creative Director, Interactive Experiences at CourtAvenue is responsible for shaping immersive, interactive work across events, product launch applications, and connected retail moments. This onsite role in Los Angeles leads both design and technology teams, sets creative direction, and ensures every experience meets a high standard of interaction quality as the studio evolves.
Responsibilities
- Define the creative point of view for each interactive project, translating client briefs and emerging technology into buildable experience concepts.
- Remain involved through production, not only during kickoff, so the final delivery preserves the intent and ambition of the original idea.
- Set and maintain a consistently high bar for design, motion, and interaction quality across all studio releases.
- Manage and develop designers, creative technologists, and producers by providing clear creative direction and enabling strong execution.
- Act as the primary creative contact for client teams, balancing business objectives with what creates a compelling experience.
- Pitch new ideas and present completed work in ways that strengthen client confidence in studio judgment and craft.
- Monitor new interactive formats, hardware, and platforms, and bring recommendations forward before clients request them.
- Introduce AI-assisted tools into the workflow when they provide real value across early concepting, rapid prototyping, and content production.
- Support junior and mid-level creatives through critique and hands-on mentorship.
- Oversee spatial and environmental design decisions alongside interactive content, ensuring physical installation and digital layer operate as one idea.
- Collaborate with production, fabrication, and technology partners to align ambitious concepts with what can be built, staffed, and maintained onsite.
- Stay current on trends in interactive art, entertainment design, and consumer technology and reflect that thinking in studio work.
Requirements
- 10+ years in a creative role centered on interactive, digital, or experience design, including several years managing a team.
- Strong personal taste demonstrated through a portfolio covering interaction design, visual design, and concept development.
- Experience partnering with enterprise or consumer technology clients, including comfort navigating multiple stakeholder layers.
- Willingness to work directly in production tools, rather than only reviewing others’ Figma files.
- Working knowledge of what is achievable on today’s hardware and software so concepts remain ambitious and buildable.
- Current hands-on experience using AI tools as part of one’s own creative process.
- Comfort spanning the full project arc, from early concept sketches to rapid prototyping and final fabricated, on-site delivery.
