About the Role

Our client, a groundbreaking arts organization in Welkom, Free State , is seeking a visionary Creative Director to lead the design and execution of immersive art installations. This role requires a unique blend of artistic sensibility, technical expertise, and project management skills. You will be responsible for conceptualizing and bringing to life captivating interactive experiences that push the boundaries of contemporary art. The ideal candidate will have a proven history of directing creative projects from inception to completion, working with multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities

Conceptualize and develop innovative ideas for immersive art installations, exhibitions, and interactive experiences. Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team of artists, designers, technicians, and fabricators throughout the project lifecycle. Oversee the artistic vision and ensure the highest standards of creative execution and quality. Collaborate with stakeholders, including curators, clients, and community partners, to define project scope and objectives. Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to ensure successful delivery. Source and select appropriate materials, technologies, and fabrication methods for installations. Develop compelling narratives and spatial designs that engage audiences on an emotional and intellectual level. Stay abreast of emerging trends in art, technology, and interactive design. Present creative concepts and project updates to clients and stakeholders.

Requirements

A strong portfolio showcasing significant experience in directing and delivering large-scale immersive art installations or experiential projects. Minimum of 8 years of experience in a creative leadership role, preferably within the arts, design, or entertainment industries. Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and execute complex artistic projects with a focus on innovation and audience engagement. Proficiency in design software relevant to spatial design, 3D modeling, or digital art. Excellent understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and technology integration in art installations. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide creative teams. Strong project management capabilities, including budget control and timeline management. A degree in Fine Arts, Installation Art, Design, Architecture, or a related field is highly desirable. Experience with interactive technologies and audience participation elements is a significant advantage.
