Our client, a reputable architectural practice in Welkom, Free State, seeks an accomplished Architectural Designer with proven project leadership. You will lead design teams, translate client visions into architectural concepts, and oversee projects from inception through construction.

The role requires a strong design sensibility, technical proficiency, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, with the Welkom office as the base.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
• 5+ years of professional architectural design and project management experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead design processes from concept to detailed design development.

This role is crucial for driving the design and development of a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging from commercial and residential to institutional buildings. You will be responsible for leading design teams, translating client visions into compelling architectural concepts, and overseeing the project lifecycle from inception through to construction. The ideal candidate will possess a strong design sensibility, excellent technical proficiency, and the ability to manage projects efficiently. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented designer looking to take on greater responsibility and make a significant contribution to the built environment within the Free State region, working predominantly from our Welkom office.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design process for architectural projects, from conceptualization to detailed design development.
• Develop innovative and functional architectural designs that meet client requirements and project objectives.
• Prepare high-quality architectural drawings, renderings, and presentations.
• Coordinate with engineering consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure designs comply with local building codes, zoning regulations, and environmental standards in Welkom .
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation effectively.
• Conduct site analysis and feasibility studies for new projects.
• Review contractor submittals and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Mentor and guide junior architectural staff, fostering a collaborative design environment.
• Maintain strong client relationships and ensure satisfaction with design outcomes.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in architectural design and project management.
• Proficiency in architectural design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Demonstrated experience in leading design projects from start to finish.
• Thorough understanding of building codes, construction methods, and materials relevant to South Africa.
• Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with contract administration and construction oversight is a plus.
• Registered or eligible for registration with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP).
