Creative Copywriter (Contract)
This role is onsite hybrid. You MUST be able to commute to our NYC office Tuesday through Thursday in order to apply and be considered.
Dotdash Meredith is America's largest digital and print publisher, with 40+ brands including PEOPLE, Better Homes & Gardens, Allrecipes, Investopedia, VeryWell, Byrdie, and InStyle. The Revenue Design team at Dotdash Meredith is seeking a freelance creative copywriter. This role requires a versatile copywriter who can move effortlessly from writing engaging copy for marketing collateral across the portfolio to representing a single brand.
We’re looking for an agency-minded freelance copywriter to bring concept-driven thinking and sharp storytelling to our in-house creative team. You’ll collaborate with designers, marketers, and strategists to craft smart, sophisticated marketing and advertising materials that support Dotdash Meredith’s revenue goals. From sales presentations and proposals to branded campaigns, websites, and event collateral, you'll lead the creative development of copy that aligns with brand strategy, engages advertisers, and reinforces our position across verticals. This is a hands-on, high-collaboration role for a self-starter who thrives on turning complex ideas into compelling narratives.
Assignment Details:
Approximately 35 hours per week
Start date: ASAP
End date: 3 months, with the potential for renewal based on performance and business needs
Hourly Rate: $65–$85/hour, commensurate with experience
Location: New York DDM Office
Assignment Responsibilities:
    Develop high-level messaging frameworks, taglines, headlines, and campaign concepts
    Write clear, compelling copy for:
      B2B and trade marketing campaigns
      Sales presentations and one-sheets
      Brand promotions, events, and activations
      Internal communications and presentation scripts
    Collaborate with design, marketing, and sales teams to ensure cohesive visual and written storytelling
    Translate complex strategies, audience insights, and product offerings into concise, persuasive narratives
    Edit and refine content for grammar, tone, brand alignment, and clarity
    Contribute to messaging templates, copy guidelines, and best practices
Skills/Experience:
    Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or comparable work experience in related fields
    8+ years of copywriting experience, preferably in media, marketing, design, or advertising environments
    Strong portfolio showcasing copywriting for presentations, marketing materials, ad campaigns, and branded content
    Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with keen attention to detail
    Ability to distill complex concepts into simple, persuasive language
    Understanding of brand voice and tone, and how to adapt them across different channels
    Collaborative mindset with the ability to work closely with designers, marketers, and executives
    Proficiency in presentation tools (Google Slides, PowerPoint, Keynote) is a plus
