Job summary

The Ivy at Watertown is seeking a creative full-time Cook to join our Food Service Team. This position offers a restaurant-like atmosphere without the hectic restaurant schedule, focused on resident well-being.

The Cook prepares meals in line with current standards and guidance from the Food Service Director to ensure quality, safety, and sanitation for all residents. Serve-Safe and allergy training are required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, understand and prepare recipes without direction.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of cooking fundamentals.
• Must be able to prepare meats, fish, soups, sauces, vegetables, and desserts garnishing the plate.
• Must have knowledge of sanitation principles and safe food handling; sensitivity to elders and disabled individuals.
• Must have Serve‑Safe Certification
• Must have Allergy Awareness Training
• Must take anti-choking training
• Must be at least 18 years old

Responsibilities

• Follow safe food handling procedures and maintain a sanitary kitchen at all times.
• Adhere to Department of Public Health rules for food production and kitchen sanitation.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen work areas, equipment, and dining surfaces.
• Respect dietary and allergy requirements for residents and serve accordingly.
• Follow OSHA safety procedures when using equipment and reporting injuries.
• Assist in preparation for catered functions and display trays with garnishes.
• Support chef with overall kitchen operations.
• Clean as you go and supervise utility and wait staff as applicable.
