Job summary

Aramark Correctional Services is seeking a Cook to join our food-service team. You will prepare diverse menu items, follow standardized recipes, and maintain clean, safe workstations in a correctional facility environment.

You will work with production guidelines, operate ovens and other equipment, and help ensure quality meals for residents and staff. Prior kitchen experience preferred, with a focus on food safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience as a cook or in a related role.
• Knowledge of basic food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety.
• Must be able to obtain food safety certification.
• Demonstrates basic math and counting skills.
• Interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare a variety of foods according to production guidelines and standardized recipes.
• Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment.
• Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items.
• Safely use utensils including knives.
• Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
• Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use different cooking methods on meat and vegetables.
• Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to guidelines.
• Store food properly following food safety policies and procedures.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor toward guests and coworkers.
