Job summary

Jewish Care is seeking an Activities Organiser to develop and deliver an engaging programme of activities that brings residents together and promotes independence. You will work Monday to Friday with some weekend hours during festivals, planning a varied calendar of social, recreational, educational and therapeutic activities, including outings.

Qualifications

• Experience working with older people and dementia awareness
• First Aid at Work certificate or willingness to train
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to plan and lead varied activities
• IT skills including Publisher, Excel and Outlook
• Source activities online and complete risk assessments
• Commitment to teamwork and flexible service
• Experience organizing recreational activities in a care setting with volunteers or Jewish culture knowledge

Responsibilities

• Create and deliver a varied programme tailored to residents’ interests and needs
• Encourage participation to promote wellbeing, independence and social interaction
• Maintain links with the Jewish community and wider community for events
• Recruit, coordinate and support volunteers for activities and outings
• Facilitate resident committee meetings and use feedback to improve the programme
• Plan and book activities, prepare reports and complete risk assessments
• Build positive relationships with families, external providers and colleagues
• Introduce new activities to enrich residents’ lives
