Job summary

Unknown company is seeking an Activity Assistant to support the Activity Director in delivering a creative and interactive activities program for residents in a long-term care setting. You will help plan, conduct and coordinate activities, ensuring adherence to regulations and resident needs.

You will assist with calendars, attendance, and transportation for residents, while fostering engagement in hobbies and reading activities.

Qualifications

• Ability to read technical procedures.
• Ability to read and comprehend policy and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct individual, small and large group activities.
• Assist in providing good communication between employees, residents, their families, support personnel, government agencies, and the public.
• Participate in community planning related to facility interests and resident needs.
• Assist in development of monthly activity calendar and attendance records.
• Assist in developing and implementing action plans to correct quality deficiencies as requested by Activities Director.
• Participate in discharge planning and resident assessments.
• Arrange transportation for residents for outings, appointments, or discharge.
• Develop monthly activity schedules including outings, group, and in-room activities for bed-bound or isolated residents.
• Encourage resident participation in self-initiated activities and provide necessary materials.
