Job summary

St. Joseph Chateau is seeking an energetic Activity Assistant to join our skilled nursing team. You’ll help plan and lead daily activities, from arts and crafts to games and community outings, creating a warm, inclusive environment for residents.

You will support the Activity Director, coordinate programs tailored to each resident’s interests, and help maintain activity records while promoting engagement, wellness, and meaningful connection across our community in Saint Joseph, Missouri.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Activity certification is preferred.
• Experience in long-term care is preferred.
• Experience leading recreational or social programs within the last five years is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and leading daily activity programs such as arts & crafts, games, music, exercise, educational sessions, religious services, and community outings.
• Encourage residents to participate in group and one-on-one activities.
• Help maintain accurate activity documentation (with training).
• Support the Activity Director with supply ordering, receipts, and monthly activity calendars.
• Maintain resident preference lists, precautions, and activity limitations.
• Help facilitate Resident Council meetings when needed.
• Participate in planning special events involving residents, families, staff, and the community.
• Create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all residents.
