Job summary

Urschel is seeking a Machine Crater to join our Shipping team at our Chesterton, Indiana facility. This full-time, day-shift role involves constructing standard and custom crates and preparing packaging materials to ensure safe shipment of Urschel products.

Responsibilities include reviewing orders, selecting packaging methods, operating hand tools and forklifts, and coordinating with Shipping/Production to ensure timely order fulfillment. Benefits include ESOP, health insurance, and 401(k).

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of one year experience in packaging, crating, shipping, manufacturing, warehouse operations, carpentry, or related environment.
Basic carpentry skills and safe use of handheld power tools, power saws, powered industrial trucks, and material-handling equipment.

Responsibilities

Reviewing orders for accuracy.
Constructing standard and custom crates.
Selecting appropriate packaging methods and materials.
Operating hand tools, power saws, powered industrial trucks, and other material-handling equipment.
Ensuring compliance with customer, company, and shipping requirements.
Inspecting packaging, staging and loading shipments; completing shipping documentation; using Epicor for job info; coordinating with Shipping and Production to fulfill orders.
Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
