We are seeking a Crater to join our manufacturing team in Roselle IL.

The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating wooden crates and preparing screen printing equipment for shipment in accordance with company standards and customer specifications. This role ensures that all equipment is packaged securely, labeled accurately, and complies with shipping requirements. The Crater works closely with production and shipping teams to support safe and efficient transportation of finished products.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate wooden crates using saws, pneumatic tools, and power tools to protect equipment during shipment.
• Read and interpret shipping orders and specifications to determine packaging requirements.
• Follow layout instructions to measure, cut, and prepare materials for crate construction.
• Operate automatic cutoff saws to size materials appropriately.
• Assemble crate bases using pneumatic and cordless power tools.
• Use forklifts to place equipment onto crate bases and transport items within the facility.
• Secure equipment by bolting heavy components to the base or skid as required.
• Wrap equipment in protective materials, including plastic, to prevent damage.
• Construct crates around large, heavy, or irregularly shaped equipment.
• Attach identification labels, stencils, and shipping documentation, including order numbers and destination information.
• Verify shipment contents by counting items and ensuring compliance with shipping orders.
• Assist in loading trucks and preparing shipments for transport.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all safety protocols.

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous experience in crating, packaging, manufacturing, or shipping environments preferred
• Forklift experience required; must obtain company certification
• Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and basic construction methods preferred

Work Environment

This position operates primarily in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with exposure to machinery, tools, noise, and material handling equipment. The environment may be non-climate-controlled. The role requires frequent interaction with production and shipping departments. Compliance with all safety rules, procedures, and regulations is mandatory.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods (up to 10 hours), walk, talk, and hear. The role requires frequent use of hands to operate tools and equipment. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds. The position also requires climbing rolling ladders and safely operating forklifts. Frequent bending, reaching, and movement throughout the facility are required.
