Job summary

GPA Crane Services is looking for a Crane Systems Engineer to design, optimize, and support electrical and mechanical systems on various crane types. You will lead maintenance teams, collaborate with OEM vendors, and drive safety and reliability initiatives across projects.

The role requires strong engineering knowledge, project management skills, and a proactive approach to safety in a port environment. Terminals assignments and travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• Proficient in electrical and mechanical engineering principles applied to port crane systems.
• Strong understanding of PLC programming (Siemens, Emerson, Rockwell, etc.) and VFDs.
• Knowledge of OSHA, NEC, IEEE codes and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to crane maintenance personnel and contractors with clear priorities.
• Develop and mentor staff with measurable goals aligned to department objectives.
• Design, specify, and evaluate crane electrical and mechanical systems including drives and control networks.
• Troubleshoot complex crane system issues including motors, encoders, and control logic.
• Ensure system availability and uptime; drive reliability improvements.
• Lead crane upgrade and retrofit projects with vendor reviews and testing.
