Job summary

Sterling Crane LLC in Baytown, TX seeks a Crane Rigger to operate and set up a range of lifting equipment safely. The role requires experience with rough terrain cranes and the ability to read technical drawings and follow safety guidelines.

You will coordinate with ground crews and perform routine maintenance daily. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, a current TWIC card, and be able to pass post-offer drug and physical screens.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years experience with rough terrain cranes, carry decks, crawlers and mobile cranes.
• Current TWIC card required.
• Post offer drug and physical screens; background check as per company policy.
• Must be dependable with flexibility to work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of specialized crane equipment safely according to procedures.
• Inspect ground conditions and check for overhead obstructions.
• Maintain equipment with daily inspections and routine maintenance.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Efficiently and safely operate a variety of specialized machinery in accordance with established procedures and guidelines ensuring the right selection and set up is made regarding crane, lift or hoist


• Inspects and assesses ground conditions as well as any possible overhead obstructions


• Maintain equipment through daily inspections, to include performance of routine maintenance and minor repairs.


• Maintain logs and records of operational activities


• Maintain visual and radio communications with ground operators according to best practices and site safety regulations, and respond to questions and instructions clearly and quickly


• Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent


• Minimum 3 years experience working with rough terrain cranes, carry decks, crawlers and mobile cranes


• Current TWIC card


• Successfully pass post offer drug and physical screens and have a background that meets company requirements


• Dependable and reliable with flexibility to work overtime, when necessary


• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, materials or instructions


• Good verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions, applicable safety regulations, and to maintain records


• Must have strong ability work well within a team environment.

Physical Requirements

• Strong depth perception and quick reaction time


• Ability to pick up, lift, carry, and move a minimum of 65lbs.


• Visual capabilities to follow hand signals, maintain all logs and operate machinery


• Ability to sit for long periods of time


• Ability to work in a variety of weather including extreme heat and cold
