Job summary

Radius Recycling is seeking a Crane Operator to operate hydraulic and/or cable cranes, lifting and moving materials while adhering to Health, Safety and Environmental standards.

The role supports ongoing scrap yard operations, requiring attention to detail, ability to work in varying weather, and reporting equipment issues. Candidates should have a high school diploma and a valid driver's license, with preferred experience operating different types of cranes.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Related training or experience operating different types of cranes is preferred.
• Valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Move levers, depress foot pedals, or turn dials to operate cranes or other equipment for lifting, moving, or placing loads.
• Determine load weights, and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overload.
• Load or unload bundles from trucks or move material to or from containers using moving equipment.
• Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as other equipment, workers, or moving objects.
• Align machine with reference stakes and guidelines, ground, or positioning equipment following hand or audio signals from other workers.
• Coordinate machine actions with other activities, such as positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
• Inspect crane mechanisms or lifting accessories and report any equipment deficiencies or malfunctions to the proper supervisor.
• Basic sorting of scrap, as well as metal and debris in preparation for processing.
