Job summary

Radius Recycling is seeking a skilled Crane Operator in Portland, ME to operate hydraulic and/or cable cranes, lifting and moving materials safely and efficiently. You will follow Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and coordinate with the Terminal Operations Manager or Shredder Operations Manager.

The role requires knowledge of cranes, load weights, and preventative maintenance, with a focus on safe, high-quality production in a fast-paced yard environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED certification required.
• Related training or experience operating different types of cranes preferred.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive an automobile.

Responsibilities

• Move levers, depress foot pedals, or turn dials to operate cranes or other equipment for lifting, moving, or placing loads.
• Determine load weights, and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overload.
• Load or unload bundles from trucks or move material to or from containers using moving equipment.
• Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as other equipment, workers, or moving objects.
• Align machine with reference stakes and guidelines, ground, or positioning equipment following hand or audio signals from other workers.
• Coordinate machine actions with other activities, such as positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
