Job summary

Radius Recycling is seeking a Crane Operator to operate hydraulic and/or cable cranes, moving materials safely and efficiently within the scrap yard. You will ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards while prioritizing accuracy and speed in processing scrap and loading/unloading materials.

The role requires attention to load capacities, equipment inspection, and clear communication with the team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED Certification.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive.
• Experience operating different types of cranes preferred.
• Must adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Move levers, depress foot pedals, or turn dials to operate cranes or other equipment for lifting, moving, or placing loads.
• Determine load weights, and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overload.
• Load or unload bundles from trucks or move material to or from containers using moving equipment.
• Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as other equipment, workers, or moving objects.
• Coordinate machine actions with other activities, such as positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
• Inspect crane mechanisms or lifting accessories and report any equipment deficiencies or malfunctions to the proper supervisor.
• Basic sorting of scrap, as well as metal and debris in preparation for processing.
