Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a Crane Operator 2 at Modular Mission Critical near Richmond, VA, with up to 75% travel.

You will independently set up fixed- and swing-cab telescopic cranes, verify condition and load charts, and coordinate with the lift team to complete lifts safely from start to finish. Responsibilities include inspecting sites, selecting proper charts, and maintaining logs. This role requires a high school diploma or GED and relevant crane certifications, plus the ability to travel

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with 4 years of experience, or equivalent training.
• Current CCO Telescopic Boom Crane - Fixed Cab (TSS) and Swing Cab (TLL) certifications.
• CDL Class A and medical card when carrier duties apply.
• Ability to set up and operate routine telescopic-crane lifts independently.

Responsibilities

• Review lift plans for weight, radius, boom length, setup, and landing area.
• Inspect work area for access, ground conditions, obstructions, and signal coverage.
• Perform daily or pre-shift inspections and document results; remove crane if unsafe.
• Set up cranes per procedures, including outriggers, mats, and counterweights.
• Select load charts and determine gross load, radius, and lift configuration.
• Coordinate signaling and ground crew positions before movement.
• Operate lifts smoothly with attention to wind, deflection, and clearance.
• Complete lift from test pick through placement and shutdown with chart compliance.
• Maintain logs and assist in coaching less experienced operators.
