Job summary

Modular Mission Critical is hiring a Crane Operator 2 to set up and operate fixed and swing‑cab telescopic cranes for routine lifting at our Richmond area site. You will verify crane condition, coordinate with the lift team and ensure safety from test lift through placement and shutdown.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with relevant crane certifications, CDL A if carrying duties, and the ability to travel up to 75%.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED with 4 years of experience or equivalent.
• Licensed crane certifications: TSS and Swing Cab (TLL) as required.
• CDL Class A and medical card when carrier duties apply.
• State/local crane qualifications as needed.
• Ability to set up and operate routine telescopic-crane lifts independently.
• Travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Review lift plans for weight, radius, boom length, setup and path.
• Walk the work area to verify access, ground conditions, and safety.
• Complete daily inspections and logs; remove crane if unsafe.
• Set up cranes using manufacturer procedures and configurations.
• Select correct load chart and determine load details for lifts.
• Maintain control of swing‑radius, signals, and ground crew positions.
• Operate lifts smoothly with coordination and safety.
• Execute lifts from test pick to placement with proper shutdown.
• Perform authorized blind or travel work per procedures.
• Stop and secure crane if conditions differ from plan.
• Explain crane response and coordinate with rigging personnel.
• Maintain logs and assist in coaching junior operators.
