Job summary

Scott Bridge Company in Tuscaloosa, AL is seeking a Crane Operator to safely position heavy components for bridges and other structures. You will read load charts, follow rigging standards, and coordinate with crew to ensure precise, safe crane operations on diverse projects.

The role requires ANSI B30.5(5-3) certification awareness and 2+ years of operating Telecrawlers, Rough Terrains, Lattice Boom Crawlers, or Ringer Cranes, with a strong commitment to safety and maintenance.

Qualifications

• ANSI B30.5(5-3) qualification standard.
• Operating Telecrawlers, Rough Terrains, Lattice Boom Crawlers or Ringer Cranes with 2+ years of training/experience.
• Ability to read and understand load charts, capacity, capability and proper assembly.
• Knowledge of rigging: slings, cable chokers, spreader bars, multiple-part load blocks.
• Knowledge of routine equipment maintenance.
• Knowledge of standard hand signals for hoisting.
• Strong emphasis on accuracy for safety and structural integrity.
• Acute awareness of distance, height and clearance to ensure safe maneuvering of loads.

Responsibilities

• Help construct bridges, dams, hydro-structures, bulkhead walls, roadways, and marine structures.
• Ensure safe and efficient load handling per load capacity guidelines.
• Facilitate smooth crane operation through controlled boom and load line management.
• Enable safe placement of piles and loads.
• Ensure setup and readiness of equipment for construction.
• Preserve equipment performance through regular greasing, oiling, and fueling.
• Enhance site safety through inspection of cables, hoisting mechanisms, and gears.
• Collaborate with Foreman, Pile Drivers, Welders, Helpers, and Laborers.
• Participate in safety training and PPE compliance.
