Job summary

Maxim Crane Works, LP is seeking a skilled crane mechanic in Houston, TX to inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair crane systems from body to engines and electrical/computer controls. The role requires at least 5+ years of crane-related mechanical experience and 3+ years on diesel, gasoline, and propane engines.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, operate hoists and forklifts, inspect equipment, test repairs and ensure compliance with OEM specs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Associates or vocational degree preferred.
• 5+ years crane-related mechanical experience.
• 3+ years diesel, gasoline, and propane engine experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret instructions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
• Good time management and communication skills.
• Must be able to pass drug test, background check, and fit-for-duty assessment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on diesel engines, booms, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, brakes and other basic components.
• Operate hoists, forklifts, and/or hand trucks to move heavy equipment.
• Inspect machines to diagnose defects, faults, or malfunctions and determine required repairs.
• Test equipment after repair to ensure proper performance and specs.
• Clean, lubricate and perform routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
• Fabricate, modify and install replacement parts using specialty tools.
• Examine parts for damage using micrometers and gauges.
• Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
• Repair and replace worn parts on vehicles and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
