Job summary

Port Houston is seeking a Manager, Port Cranes to lead a skilled team in the electromechanical maintenance and repair of STS and RTG cranes. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, safety, and reliability to support efficient port operations.

The position reports to the Director and requires extensive supervisory experience, strong leadership, and a proven ability to manage budgets and collaborate with multiple stakeholders. Bayport site experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree required in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics or related leadership-focused business track.
• Directly related supervisory experience may substitute for education.
• 10+ years in general crane maintenance supervision at ports or heavy facilities.
• Certifications in leadership principles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise crane maintenance teams for STS and RTG cranes.
• Ensure adherence to preventive maintenance schedules and safety protocols.
• Communicate with peers, vendors, and internal departments on maintenance and repairs.
• Manage all crane maintenance activities and related divisional expenses; oversee capital purchases.
• Process damage claims for Port equipment and coordinate repairs.
• Prepare department documentation for Port Commission or staff approvals.
• Ensure environmental and safety compliance per Port Houston standards and regulations.
• Lead continuous improvement by analyzing performance data to identify trends.
• Participate in annual budgeting and cost analysis; support long-range planning.
• Collaborate across departments on projects and special assignments.
