Barnhart Crane & Rigging in Kansas City, MO, is seeking a hands-on mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair cranes and heavy equipment. You’ll troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, read schematics, and work on engines, booms, brakes, and hydraulic components.

Role combines shop stability with field work and occasional travel. Expect a 40-hour week, with overtime opportunities, a safety-first culture, and growth through advanced diagnostics and electrical experience.

Qualifications

• 3-4+ years of experience with cranes, diesel, or heavy equipment.
• Strong ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
• Experience reading schematics and working with electronics.
• Mechanically minded with a hands-on, problem-solving approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on cranes and heavy equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, including advanced electronics.
• Work on engines, booms, brakes, tires, and hydraulic components.
• Handle equipment breakdowns and repairs across the branch fleet.
• Use IFS systems, tablets, and crane-specific software to track work.
• Support both shop and field work, including job sites as needed.
