Job summary

The Michaels Companies Inc. in Oceanside, CA is seeking an Event Coordinator to plan and coordinate in-store events, including children's birthday parties, to deliver a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests.

Deliver friendly customer service and help customers shop, find products, and enroll in rewards programs. Responsibilities include coordinating events, assisting with checkout, handling administrative tasks, and ensuring safety and cleanliness while meeting store standards and

Qualifications

• Must have experience working with children and children’s events.
• Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.
• Must have organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Retail and/or customer service experience required.
• Energetic, enthusiastic personality with ability to engage guests of all ages.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
• Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
• Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
• Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons to company standards.
• Communicate events with clients and store team members.
• Complete administrative tasks such as emails, calls, and paperwork as needed.
• Adjust plans based on client feedback and needs; create backup plans as needed.
• Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events and maintain store cleanliness and safety.
