Job summary

Michaels Stores in the PHX-MESA/McKELLIPS, AZ area is seeking an Event Coordinator to plan and run in-store events, including children’s birthday parties, while delivering friendly customer service and maintaining brand standards.

You will help customers shop, enroll in rewards programs, and support Omni-channel processes such as BOPIS/SFS, with strong emphasis on safety and satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Energetic and enthusiastic personality required.
• Ability to handle job stress and interact with guests of all ages.
• Excellent people skills are essential for this role.
• Must have experience working with children and children’s events.
• Strong communication skills including written and verbal.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills; problem solving.
• Retail or customer service experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate events at Michaels stores, including children’s birthday parties and other classes.
• Engage with clients of all ages to create a fun, creative environment.
• Demonstrate and instruct party participants; face painting and activities.
• Coordinate add-ons (goody bags, balloons) to company standards.
• Communicate events with clients and store team members.
• Handle administrative tasks: emails, calls, paperwork as needed.
• Adjust event plans based on client feedback and needs.
• Create backup plans for emergencies; ensure client satisfaction.
• Uphold store cleanliness, safety, and set up/teardown for events.
• Cross-trained in Custom Framing selling and production.
• Participate in daily store cleanliness activities (sweeping, etc.).
