Job summary

Michaels is hiring for an Event Coordinator to plan and coordinate events in AMERICAN FORK, UT, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes. You will engage customers, assist with purchases, and ensure a fast, friendly checkout while upholding store standards and safety policies.

Responsibilities include coordinating events, face painting, upselling, and cross-training in framing. This is a part-time, in-store role requiring energetic teamwork and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Retail and/or customer service experience required.
• Must have experience working with children and children’s events.
• Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.
• Must have organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate events at the Michaels store, including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
• Engage with clients of all ages, creating an environment of fun and creativity.
• Demonstrate and instruct participants in craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
• Facilitate party add-ons like goody bags and balloons to company standards.
• Communicate events with clients and store team members.
• Complete administrative tasks such as emails, calls, and paperwork.
• Adjust plans based on client feedback and needs; create backup plans.
