Job summary

Snack Craft (master) is seeking a Cracker Processing Machine Operator to ensure product quality and food safety while maintaining line efficiencies. The role involves operating equipment to roll dough, form crackers, and prepare for baking, with close collaboration with the mixer operator to move dough through the system.

Responsibilities include adjusting machinery, performing preventive maintenance, ensuring correct labeling, and following GMP and food safety rules.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and perform repetitive actions on feet.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
  • 1–3 years of machine operator experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions and adjust for optimal run.
  • Perform adjustments or repairs on equipment (valves, formers, sealing jaws, guides, temperature controls).
  • Lubricate, sanitize, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on packaging line.
  • Start machine, feed dough from hopper, and manage flow through the machine.
  • Ensure proper labeling and data accuracy for products.
  • Work with quality team to ensure product compliance and specs.
  • Follow GMP and Food Safety rules and maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace.

Job description

Description: Cracker Processing Machine Operators are responsible for the quality and food safety of the product while also maintaining line efficiencies. This role ensures the efficient and safe operation of the equipment, adherence to quality standards, and timely completion of production schedules. This includes operating the machine to roll dough into sheets and to form crackers and prepare for baking and adjusting between rollers. They are also responsible for working closely with the mixer operator to help move the dough through the machine and hoppers.Work Environment: This job operates in a food production and warehouse setting. The floor surface is concrete. The noise level is moderate with no vibration. Material movement takes place throughout the facility.Physical Demands:Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work on their feet, while using tools to perform repetitive actionsHearing and speaking to exchange informationDexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipmentReaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontallyBending at the waist, kneeling, sitting, or crouchingAbility to walk and stand-up during shiftCompetencies:Safety Compliance: Knowledge of and adherence to safety protocols and PPE requirements.Troubleshooting: Skill in identifying and resolving mechanical issues.Time Management: Efficiently manage time to meet production schedules.Attention to Detail: Ability to notice and correct deviations in product quality.Problem-Solving: Capability to take corrective measures to address quality issues.Technical Aptitude: Understanding of machinery operation and basic mechanical principles.Core Responsibilities:Observes machine operation to detect malfunctions and adjust for optimal run.Performs adjustments or repairs, such as opening valves, changing formers and sealing jaw knives, setting guides, temperature controls, nitrogen/ oxygen fill ratios, and other machine related functions.Lubricate, sanitize, troubleshoot, make minor mechanical adjustments, and perform preventive maintenance on packaging line as needed.Starts machine and inserts end of dough from hopper into roller.Pushes through of dough to machine and shovels dough into hopper or dumps it into hopper, using hoist.Take appropriate corrective measures to reduce and eliminate quality issues in a timely fashion.Ensure correct labeling of product is managed, as well as, ensuring label data is complete and accurate.Work with quality team to ensure product compliance and work order specs are maintained.Observes operation and removes malformed crackers.Verify weight of samples against standards, using balance scale.Ensure work order schedules are followed correctly and to company protocol.Produce product based on customer formulation specifications.Scoops such ingredients into hoppers located along conveyor belt.Maintain all GMP and Food Safety rules at all times.Operate machinery and job tasks using proper safety practices and protocols.Report any unsafe and near-mis incidents to management.Comply with all company guidelines, safety protocols, and PPE requirements.Knowledge of tools, machines, safety precautions in an industrial/ manufacturing setting.Proactively keep machine areas, floors, and bins clean, wiped down, and free of hazards throughout shift, in accordance with standards, procedures, and expectations.Use knowledge, creativity, and initiative in recommending or implementing improvements in efficiency or safety of the work area.Perform other duties as assigned by plant management.Education and Experience:High School Diploma/ GED preferred.1 – 3 years of machine operator experience required.Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
