Job Summary

A Machine Operator 1 is responsible for operating a single machine in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. The operator must communicate effectively, follow written and verbal instructions, safely and accurately operate bakery equipment, and maintain GMP standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate mixer, baker’s mixer (batter, dough, icing, & cream)
• Operate depositor, oven, fryer, tumbler, injector, wrapper, combi, and other relevant bakery machines.
• Read and follow formulations, calculate batter time, record batter and exception data.
• Monitor two machines simultaneously, identify the stage of mixing, make batter adjustments, and combine ingredient weights.
• Identify ingredients in and out of packing containers.
• Use scraping, box knife, bowl knife, scoops, bucket, thermometer, measuring cup, hair net, hearing protection, safety glasses, and bump caps.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous safety training preferred.

Workplace Conditions

Manufacturing environment, exposure to gluten and potential battery liquids, and operation of food-grade equipment.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

The role requires a long shift and a variety of physical activities, including:

• 12‑hour shift with a mixture of sitting (5%), standing (40%), walking (10%), kneeling/squatting (20%), and bending (25%).
• Lifting up to 50 pounds, approximately four times per day, from floor to waist.
• Reaching up to 60 inches for up to one hour per day.
• Climbing stairs eight times per day and ladders one to two times per day.
• Performing repetitive hand and arm motions for up to an hour per day.
• Engaging in pushing and pulling whole-body loads up to 500–800 lbs and walking on unprotected heights or catwalks as needed.
• Must be in good physical condition and not afraid of heights.
