Job summary

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking an experienced engineer to advance STA methodology across cutting-edge CPU nodes. You will architect improvements and collaborate with global CPU physical design teams to optimize power, performance, and area.

You will maintain STA/ECO flows, resolve timing issues, and work with EDA vendors to shape tool roadmaps. Strong Python/Tcl automation and AI-in-EDA skills are highly desired.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 6+ years experience, or equivalent master/PhD.
• Strong STA experience on cutting-edge technology nodes.
• Programming/scripting skills in Python and Tcl; automation mindset.
• Synthesis/PnR experience with focus on PPA optimization.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Architect and recommend methodology improvements to ensure our silicon has the best power, performance and area
• Maintain, support and debug STA and timing closure (ECO) flows, and resolve project-specific issues
• Work closely with worldwide CPU physical design teams, and provide methodology guidance and tools/flows support.
• Work with EDA vendors to define roadmap and to resolve tool issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry experience of Static Timing Analysis (STA) on cutting edge technology nodes
• Programming/Scripting skills (Python and Tcl in particular) and an automation mindset.
• Coding with a focus on quality and reusability. Leverage static checking, Test Driven Development, CI/CD, etc to achieve high quality software
• Experienced in generating/optimizing/automating timing ECO closure
• Detailed understanding of STA concepts (e.g.: LVF/CCS/SSI/NBTI) and how they impact margins/derates
• Debugging/Support with project deadlines in mind
• Synthesis/PnR experience with a focus on PPA optimization.
• Collaborate with EDA partners to determine/drive optimal and cutting-edge solutions
• Web/Database/Dashboards/Visualization experience a plus.
• Experience applying AI techniques to EDA workflows, including log analysis, root-cause investigation, metrics mining, knowledge retrieval, and automated generation of scripts, documentation, and test collateral.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience. OR PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits

$198,700.00 - $298,100.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
