Job summary

Apple in Austin, TX seeks a CPU Performance Engineer focused on CPU micro-architecture to push the boundaries of branch prediction, prefetchers, and pipelines for next‑gen iPhone, iPad and Mac CPUs. You will analyze single‑threaded and multi‑threaded workloads, collect data, and collaborate with CPU designers to test ideas in modeling and RTL contexts.

Qualifications

• Experience with CPU architecture and micro-architecture.
• Experience in performance and/or power simulation environments.
• Coding experience with C and C++, object-oriented programming.
• Scripting with Perl or Python.

Responsibilities

• Analyze single-threaded and multi-threaded workloads to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with CPU designers in micro-architecture and RTL to assess feasibility of ideas through modeling, refine ideas and model correlation.
• Maintain and improve the simulation environment to enable data-driven decisions and boost team productivity.
