Job summary

AMD in Austin seeks a Physical Design Methodology Staff Engineer to optimize the tool-chain and develop advanced methodologies for GHz-class silicon. You will bridge raw EDA capabilities with architectural needs, acting as a power user and flow-architect to hit aggressive PPA targets.

You will lead scripting frameworks, automate design space exploration, and collaborate with vendors to evolve flows for high QoR and predictable timing.

Qualifications

• Expert-level knowledge of physical design platforms and flows.
• Ability to optimize toolchains for GHz-class silicon.
• Experience automating design space exploration and signoff.
• Strong scripting in Tcl/Python/Perl for flow integration.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end physical implementation flows (Synthesis through Signoff).
• Drive EDA tool adoption and troubleshoot complex tool behavior with vendors.
• Develop automation scripts for design space exploration and ECOs.
• Tune CTS, clocking, and power flows to meet aggressive targets.
• Build automated signoff loops to minimize iterations.
• Develop and validate complex SDC constraints to align with architectural intent.
