University of California - San Diego Medical Centers seeks a skilled Phlebotomist to join the clinical laboratory team. The role includes specimen collection, processing, labeling, and ensuring patient comfort and safety during procedures.
The position requires California CPT licensure and 1–2 years of related lab experience, with strong knowledge of terminologies, hospital regulations, and safety standards. Shifts may vary across campus locations.

Performs specimen processing, accessioning, Phlebotomy, heel and finger sticks, customer service, clerical duties, effective communication with laboratory customers, problem resolution, record keeping, supply inventory and maintenance, as well as cleaning and maintaining a safe work environment. Additional duties include operation of instruments, preventative maintenance as appropriate to each section/dept. assigned. Performs all duties in a manner consistent with current laboratory safety standards. Maintains a current Phlebotomy Certification issued by the state of California Laboratory Field Services.
Must be a certified Phlebotomist and hold a valid California Phlebotomy license (CPT).
Previous one to two (1 - 2) years of directly related lab experience, preferably in a large, complex healthcare system.
Demonstrated knowledge of Scientific Terminology.
Thorough knowledge of laboratory regulations, laws, and ethical requirements.
Knowledge of Hospital Isolation, Infection Control protocols, and patient comfort/safety.
Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position; demonstrated skills in basic collection and specimen preparation, storage, and disposal of specimens.
Customer service experience, including experience handling phone calls and assisting customers or clients with questions and concerns.
Annual Full Pay Range: $65,020 - $85,796 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $31.14 - $41.09
