Job summary

Garfield Counseling Center in Chicago, IL is seeking a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) to provide peer recovery support, engagement, and coaching based on lived recovery experience.

You will help participants with workforce readiness, assist in retention and warm handoffs between clinical and recovery supports, and participate in community outreach while maintaining confidential records.

Minimum CPRS credential (or within 12 months) and 1–2 years in peer support are strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Illinois CPRS credential or state equivalent, or attainment within 12 months of project start.
• Lived recovery experience strongly preferred.
• Minimum 1-2 years of peer support or recovery coaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide recovery coaching and peer support to enrolled participants, using SAMHSA's dimensions of recovery.
• Support participant engagement, retention, and warm handoffs between clinical and recovery supports.
• Assist participants with workforce readiness, employment navigation, and linkage to treatment, workforce, and community resources.
• Participate in community outreach and engagement activities.
• Maintain participant contact records consistent with confidentiality requirements (Attachment 6).
