Job summary

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services seeks CPI Investigation Worker Trainees for a mobile, field-based role protecting children and families. Investigators respond to reports of abuse or neglect, gather information, assess safety and risk, and document findings in a timely manner.

This is not a traditional office job; work occurs in homes, schools, hospitals, and community locations. Travel up to 75% is required, with daytime, evening, and weekend duties and extensive case

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development, family dynamics and protective services.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel extensively for field work.

Responsibilities

• Responds quickly in crisis situations involving children who may be in an abusive or neglectful situation.
• Conducts forensic investigations of reports of abuse/neglect to determine if abuse or neglect occurred and assesses risk.
• Documents all relevant information and completes forms accurately and timely.
• Works in a mobile unit, performing field visits and home assessments.
