Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) seeks a CPI Investigator Specialist I/II/III/IV to perform mobile, field-based investigations protecting children and vulnerable families. Work occurs in homes, schools, and community settings; travel across Texas is common.

Not a telework role with demanding hours and extensive documentation. Essential functions include crisis response, forensics, interviewing, and coordination with law enforcement, courts, and medical professionals.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and protective services.
• Approximately, degrees or credits required per screening criteria.

Responsibilities

• Responds quickly in crisis situations involving children.
• Conducts forensic investigations of abuse/neglect reports.
• Interviews family members, caregivers, and others involved in cases.
