Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is seeking CPI Investigations Specialist I/II for field-based work across Texas. Investigators respond to reports of suspected child abuse or neglect, gather information, assess safety and risk, and partner with families to mitigate future harm.

This is a mobile role with regular face-to-face contact. Travel up to statewide locations is required, and duties include extensive documentation, collaboration with schools, law enforcement, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required; multiple pathways listed.
• Experience in social or protective services preferred.
• Ability to travel extensively across the state.

Responsibilities

• Responds quickly in crisis situations involving children; assess risk and safety.
• Conducts forensic investigations of reports of abuse/neglect.
• Interview family members, caregivers, and professionals.
• Maintain timely and thorough documentation of investigations.
• Work in field locations including homes, schools, hospitals, and courts.
