VALiNTRY is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to oversee financial operations for a growing, privately held healthcare organization specializing in behavioral health services.
This newly created position supports an expanding, multi-entity operation. The Controller will take ownership of financial reporting, accounting operations, revenue cycle oversight, cash management, budgeting, and internal controls.
The organization operates in a close-knit, family-owned environment with a strong emphasis on stability, accountability, and long-term relationships. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with ownership, managing day-to-day accounting functions, and improving financial processes without relying on a large corporate infrastructure.
The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $120,000 per year. However, if you possess additional valuable skill sets that could benefit the enterprise, you may be eligible for higher compensation. We encourage strong technical candidates to apply without hesitation.

Maintain documented cost allocation methodologies across entities and service lines.
Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accurate financial records.
Maintain fixed asset, lease, and debt schedules.

Revenue Cycle & Reimbursement
Serve as the financial owner of the revenue cycle in partnership with an outsourced billing provider.
Oversee revenue recognition, contractual allowances, reserves, and cash posting.
Monitor accounts receivable aging, collections, and claim denials.
Analyze commercial payer reimbursement, payer mix, and revenue per patient day.
Identify reimbursement and billing issues before they negatively affect cash flow or profitability.
Connect revenue cycle performance to financial results and operational decision-making.
Cash Management, Budgeting & Forecasting
Manage daily cash across multiple entities and bank accounts.
Maintain rolling cash flow forecasts.
Develop annual budgets and forecasts by location and service line.
Analyze financial performance and recommend operational improvements.
Oversee accounts payable, disbursement controls, and vendor payment terms.
Leadership, Compliance & Operational Reporting
Prepare monthly executive reporting packages, including financial statements, variance analysis, and operational KPIs.
Monitor census, occupancy, length of stay, cost per patient day, and labor costs as a percentage of revenue.
Establish and strengthen internal accounting controls and financial procedures.
Coordinate tax filings and planning with external CPA advisors.
Oversee payroll accounting, benefits accruals, and workers' compensation audits in coordination with the organization's PEO.
Supervise bookkeeping and accounts payable personnel.
Partner directly with ownership on financial planning and operational decisions.
Active CPA license, preferably in Florida, or eligibility for Florida licensure through reciprocity.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from a U.S. institution.
Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience.
At least 3 years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager position.
Direct healthcare accounting experience.
Recent experience within the past 5 years working with private-pay patients and commercial insurance reimbursement.
Understanding of commercial payer billing, reimbursement practices, contractual allowances, and revenue recognition.
Hands-on experience preparing consolidated financial statements for multiple entities, including intercompany transactions and eliminations.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accrual accounting.
Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
Demonstrated experience improving accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures.
Ability to communicate directly and effectively with ownership and operational leadership.
Behavioral health or residential treatment facility experience.
Experience with out-of-network commercial insurance billing and reimbursement.
Public accounting experience followed by financial leadership in private industry.
QuickBooks experience.
Familiarity with healthcare electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Experience supporting a growing healthcare organization operating across multiple states.
Experience working with outsourced billing providers and professional employer organizations (PEOs).
The ideal candidate is a CPA who enjoys being directly involved in accounting operations rather than simply overseeing them from a distance.
This position is particularly well suited for someone who:
Enjoys working in a smaller, privately owned organization where decisions are made quickly.
Values stability, long-term relationships, and a collaborative working environment.
Can manage complex accounting responsibilities while remaining involved in daily financial operations.
Understands the financial impact of commercial insurance reimbursement, collections, and patient census.
Takes initiative to improve processes and solve problems without requiring extensive oversight.
Is comfortable working directly with owners and operational leaders.
Prefers a hands-on leadership role over a highly layered corporate environment.
VALiNTRY specializes in connecting experienced accounting, finance, and healthcare professionals with organizations seeking long-term talent.
Qualified candidates with an active CPA license, recent healthcare reimbursement experience, and multi-entity accounting expertise are encouraged to apply.
