Connex Education Partnership in Chesterfield is seeking a confident Cover Supervisor to support primary and secondary schools across the area. You will supervise classes when the regular teacher is absent, using pre-prepared lesson plans and resources.

This flexible role offers day-to-day, short-term and longer-term assignments, with weekly pay and opportunities to access CPD through Connex Academy. Experienced education staff, graduates, or those with coaching backgrounds are welcome.

Qualifications

• Experience in schools, tutoring, youth work, sports coaching, childcare, mentoring, or similar people-focused roles.
• Fluent English with ability to build relationships with pupils and staff.
• Good organisation skills and adaptability to new school environments.
• Willingness to complete safeguarding and pre-employment checks, including enhanced DBS.

• Supervise whole classes and maintain a focused learning environment.
• Deliver and support pre-prepared lessons and classroom activities.
• Set clear expectations for behaviour, participation and learning.
• Support pupils with tasks and answer questions where appropriate.

• Take registers, follow school procedures and report concerns to appropriate staff.
• Provide useful feedback to teachers about pupil engagement and lesson progress.

Cover Supervisor

Location: Chesterfield | Pay: £95–£110 per day | Contract: Flexible day-to-day, short-term and longer-term assignments

Connex Education is looking for confident and reliable Cover Supervisors to support primary and secondary schools across Chesterfield. This flexible role is ideal for experienced education staff, graduates, sports coaches, youth workers or anyone with strong communication skills who enjoys working with young people. You will help keep learning on track when the usual class teacher is unavailable.

About the Role / Setting

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes when the regular teacher is absent, using pre-prepared lesson plans and resources. You may work in primary settings with younger pupils across a range of activities, or in secondary settings across different subjects and year groups. The role requires a calm, positive and consistent approach to behaviour, as well as the ability to build respectful relationships with pupils and staff.
