Job summary

Chatham Financial is seeking a Covenant Data Specialist on the Investment Management team in Charlotte, NC. You will help ensure institutional real estate investors have accurate covenant information to understand financing obligations and manage risk across complex debt portfolios.

You will review loan agreements to identify covenants, translate language into a standardized data structure, and perform quality-control across data.

Qualifications

• Experience reading and interpreting commercial loan documents or similar complex agreements.
• Working knowledge of commercial lending concepts and loan covenants.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities with sound judgment when information is unclear.
• Ability to translate varied document language into a consistent, standardized format.
• Ability to identify discrepancies and request additional review when needed.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for feedback and collaboration.
• Experience with quality-control, quality-assurance, or peer-review responsibilities is preferred.
• Familiarity with covenants such as DSCR, loan-to-value, and liquidity is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review commercial real estate loan documents to identify covenants.
• Interpret covenant provisions, definitions, thresholds, and testing periods.
• Translate language into Chatham's standardized covenant data structure.
• Distinguish substantive requirements from supporting language and flag ambiguities.
• Perform detailed quality-control reviews of covenant data.
• Identify errors and provide clear feedback to improve data standards.
• Recognize recurring data-quality issues and suggest process improvements.
• Collaborate with data, implementation, and advisory teams to resolve questions.
• Share knowledge to reinforce consistent covenant interpretation.
